“Street photography is where I got my reps in - I practiced composition, playing with light, and not being shy photographing and approaching strangers.”

—————————

Born, raised and living with my wife (and our dog) in Montreal, I’ve been in love with photography for years. Street photography is where I got my reps in - I drilled composition, studied the interplay of light and shadow, and practiced more advanced photography techniques needed in a professional context. I’ve been inspired by past photographers like Fan Ho, Saul Leiter and Vivian Maier, as well as more contemporary photographers like Sebastião Salgado and Martin Parr.

Before I made the jump to becoming a full-time photographer, I was juggling photography and my PhD at McGill. As I was nearing the end of my degree, I realized the one thing I wanted to do was to shoot - I wasn’t going to continue in academia or research, and photography was my calling.

Vulnerability is not a weakness, a passing indisposition, or something we can arrange to do without, vulnerability is not a choice, vulnerability is the underlying, ever present and abiding undercurrent of our natural state.
